Absolute Drawing Statement

Drawing is editing of life boiling it down to a nostalgic mark of what we saw moments before. It is the conviction of one singular view amidst infinity at one moment and another tomorrow. Unlike the riddle of Pi we choose an answer, a version of an ideal. It is not an Absolute truth, one version unto god, but rather a choice of meaning, like an opera about war written in French, rather than Italian. Marks on paper are but a cast of characters, a swish of the wrist mimicking an action hero, a smear a bombshell beauty. They are a collection of a narrative of moment to be recorded until it can no longer stand up to the natural order of the universe.  They are a wave to wash the stick’s memory from the sand or the ink of a squid form the days of pirates, spurred to destruction by nothing more than the air. Line can be spoken with an accent, but understood by a universal smell which awakens the visual stomach and creates a hunger to understand. It is pure thought, pure purpose existing in the silly illusion of talent and the missed clarity of a line created by gum sticking to your shoe.  Drawing is the 100% truth of only vision.
