Mike Kelley was a pioneer in abandonment. That which doomed the object became that which was the most interesting part of the object. In this ode to him, I take his thinking one step further and present work in an abandoned gallery space to a viewer that does not exist. He has proven that abandoned animals on tables can be art, but is it still art when presented in an abandoned gallery to a non-existent viewer as well? |
