Japer created two bronze beer cans as a statement about his relationship with Robert Rauschenberg, his best friend and sometimes lover who he liked to sit and drink this brand of beer with. These relationships between artists are the powerful undercurrent that allows for healthy art making and discovery. My own art would not be as accomplished without those artist I love holding my hand. In toast to these freindships between artists everywhere I made bronze coolers, so Jasper and Bob would not have to drink warm beer. |
