2006 the year this piece was made marked the 108 years since the conclusion of Impressionism. Fascinated by the stories of this group, I am always baffled that my grandmother has several calendars if their work. Would I allow my grandmother to get syphilis and hang out with this crowd? I am saddened by how their paintings and life are reduced to gift shops. To combat this I created this large memorial wall using the guts of 108 stuffed animals, which mimics their beautiful use of white brush strokes. Stuffed animals are used because the same process that their paintings underwent to end up on a coffee mug, happened to a bear when he is made palatable for a child's amusement.
